In May 2004, I landed in London: a city obsessed with The Libertines, Girls Aloud, Vice Mag, Myspace, The Osbournes, and Madonna's marriage to Guy Ritchie.
About Minka Guides
Hello, my name is Bronwyn.
Most people struggle with my name (it's Welsh, pronounced "Bron+when"), so I create content under the easier moniker of Minka.
I'm a solo polyamorous, genderqueer person in my 40s. I originally hail from Australia but have lived in the UK/Europe for nearly twenty years.
Writing is what I do, both for this site and for a living. I also started hosting my video podcast recently, which you can find on YouTube and Instagram.
Under many guises, I have been a performer of various sorts. Most notably, I toured the US and Australia doing a punk form of burlesque with SuicideGirls in 2005/2006 and performed as a drag queen from 2016-2020, mainly with London's legendary queer club, Sink The Pink.
Initially, I created Minka Guides as a travel blog in 2015 to capture all the fun, stylish and quirky highlights of every destination I visited, with a big emphasis on inclusivity.
Then the pandemic hit. With travelling and performing drag suddenly impossible, I started to write about other topics, such as dating, relationships, queerness, ageing, health and more.
As it turned out, people want to read about these topics too, and Minka Guides has now blossomed into a lifestyle blog for everyone who questions the norm.
So, here you'll find an exciting mix of content, with heady doses of polyamory, gender, queerness and personal growth.
If this sounds like your thing, you can keep in touch by subscribing. You’ll instantly receive an email every time I publish something new.
Want to read more about me and how I ended up at this point in my life? Then check out the blogs below to get an insight into my journey, my identities and some of the adventures I've experienced.
You can also use my Contact page to say hello or check out my Work With Me page to interview, collaborate or write for me.
Thanks for visiting Minka Guides, and I hope you keep questioning the norm.
